3×3 basketball tournament for Non-Public High Schools on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Author’s High School

Last Monday, June 5, 2023, a 3×3 basketball tournament for Non-Public High Schools was held at the sports hall at 71 Solec Street on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Author’s High School.

In this dynamic variant of basketball, which is played as the name suggests, 3 players against 3 for one basket, 10 teams joined, which was initially divided into two groups. Our team, which was represented by: Karol, Antek (1st Pre-DP) and Władysław and Patryk (2nd Pre-DP) at the very beginning of the tournament suffered a cold shower, which was a 0:2 defeat with the Social Secondary School No. 17. During this match, stress clearly took over, and when the hand is shaking, the ball does not fall into the rim of the wheel. Fortunately, as befits the students of the IB school, the boys took a risk (RISK-TAKER) and in the next group matches they confidently won against teams representing 81 Niepubliczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące (SGH), Bednarska Szkola Realna (squad I) and ALON (squad II) which allowed them to leave the group to the medal phase.

In the medal phase at the very beginning, fate reunited us with the first team of BSR and unfortunately this time it was the opponents who came out victorious from the match. However, following the example of the first phase of the tournament – here also the next matches are a spectacular game of MONNET’s representatives and three wins.

Ultimately, basketball players with the MONNET logo on their chest with a balance of 6:2 won second place in a strongly staffed tournament, where some of the teams played much bigger and more experienced this year’s high school graduates, so it’s scary to think what it will be like in a year or two when our boys will be the oldest ones 😊The strength of our team in such a dynamic tournament was undoubtedly a strong and balanced “four”, where at the moment of fatigue or worse moment of one teammate – the other three were able to replace him immediately at the coach’s signal.

Well done boys!
