Undefeated in Mokotów!
From December 11 to 15, basketball players in the youth category (7-8 grades of Primary School) competed for the title of the best team in Mokotów as part of the Warsaw Youth Olympics. The representatives of our school were present on the dance floor of the hall at Niegocińska Street, defending last year’s very good, second place. As many as 22 schools signed up to compete, which only increased the desire to compete, and our school was represented by: Bruno [captain], Tymon, Luca, Alex, Borjan, Alan, Franek, Andrzej (all 8A) and Janek (7A).
After successfully passing the qualifying rounds – winning against SP69 (13:4) and SP190 (20:6) and Tuesday’s training with the Pre-DP MONNET team, we met the best teams from the remaining qualifying groups during the final tournament on Friday. The competition began with the quarterfinals, in which we won 23:4 against SP Zakon Piarów, then we faced last year’s champions of Mokotów from SP212, where, despite losing for most of the match, the last minutes belonged to our representatives and the match ultimately ended with a 16:12 victory. In the final we competed against SSP26, where the match ended with a score of 11:9 for our team. Throughout the final competition, the boys were actively supported and their success was immortalized in photos by their friends from grade 8 – Julia and Rozalia.
After the entire tournament, during which our brave boys emerged victorious every time, it was time for decorations, during which there was a large cup, gold medals and an award for the MVP (Most Valuable Player), which was our captain – Bruno. On the way back to school, it was time for a championship celebration over pizza and a visit to the Principal, during which the team representatives handed over the cup.
Now it’s time for training, because at the beginning of March we will have the pleasure of representing our school and the Mokotów District during the Warsaw Championships, during which 18 teams – champions of all Warsaw districts will meet.
