Mokotów and Warsaw Sports Gymnastics Championships

Last week, the youngest girls aged 2013-2016 represented the school twice in the Mokotów and Ursynów Championships and the Warsaw Sports Gymnastics Championships.

Our wonderful students turned out to be unrivaled for the third year in a row and became MOKOTÓW CHAMPIONS! Two teams that had previously won the District Championships, including many sports schools/sports classes with a gymnastics profile, entered the competition at the next stage, i.e. in the finals of the Warsaw Youth Olympics.

During both the first and second competitions, each of the girls took part in three gymnastic competitions, i.e. vault jump, balance exercises on the gymnastic bench and free exercises on the gymnastics track. Each competition was assessed by three experienced judges, who very carefully, and sometimes very strictly, awarded points to the competitors for their individual performances.

High physical fitness is required from gymnastics competitors. Versatility and balance are also important, i.e. features of the IB student profile. You need to be strong, flexible, enduring and well-coordinated to maintain balance while performing a handstand or bridge. Our students showed all the above features and presented the school brilliantly in professional gymnastic representative costumes.

This year, our small success is also obtaining a higher total of team points than in previous years, which shows that regular and hard work brings results. We also know what to work on in the near future.
