Ethnogadki at Monnet
Last week, Grade 1 students, as part of the unit of inquiry: ” Knowledge about previous generations helps us understand the relationship between the past and the present. ” took part in a unique workshop led for them by Monika Michaluk, co-author of the book: “Etnogadki, opowiastki o dawnych obrzęach i zwyczajach”/ “Etnogadki, tales of old rituals and customs”. During the workshop, they discovered the mysteries of nature and tradition.
First graders learned how nature marked time and how our ancestors celebrated important events. Together they created their own calendars of old Polish customs and traditions. At the end of the class, we got something that once was more precious than gold – cereal seeds.
