Día de los Muertos in MYP
The last day of October was spent in MYP learning about the culture of Día de los Muertos. On this occasion, all students gathered on the beautifully decorated 4th floor where they watched the film Coco.
Before the screening, a Spanish teacher Mrs Marta Torres talked about the message and emotions surrounding the celebration of Día de los Muertos in Mexico. She highlighted two elements that appear prominently in the film Coco: alebrijes and catrina.
In addition, before the screening of the film, grade 6A added to the festivities by reciting a poem in Spanish. The 4th floor was decorated with colourful garlands made from papel picado, which the sixth and seventh graders had previously made on their own.
It was an exceptionally colourful and full of Mexican energy day.
