Charity actions in grades 0-4 PYP

This year, too, we extended the sum of good in the world. We managed to fulfil the Christmas dreams of children undergoing oncological treatment. In addition to this, the entire PYP school community joined in preparing a Noble Parcel for Mrs Teresa. It is time to summarise these actions.

The Noble Parcel
We are very happy that once again we were able to take part in the action. The entire PYP primary school community responded positively to Mrs Teresa’s needs, for which I am very grateful. We are waiting for feedback from the volunteer from the moment the parcels were handed over, we handed them over last Saturday, 15 December, to the Central Warehouse in Warsaw’s Bródno.

Mrs Teresa received 7 parcels from us – 6 visible in the photo and a washing machine, which was the 7th parcel delivered directly to the Warehouse. Many thanks for her generosity to our student’s mother, who covered the entire cost of the washing machine and coordinated the purchase process.

The remaining amount, i.e. PLN 1125, was donated to the account of the Wiosna Association (entitled: Pomagam ze Szlachetną Paczką).

Taking part in the Noble Parcel campaign is an important experience for us, which shows how small gestures can have an impact on the community in which we live.

A Parcel for Christmas
For the first time this year, we joined the campaign: Parcel for Christmas. We became Santa Clauses and made THREE Christmas dreams come true for children undergoing cancer treatment.
The generosity of the school community exceeded my expectations, so after collecting the first parcel I decided to select 2 more letters.
Below is a summary of who we gifted and pictures of the parcels before they were sent:

  • 7-year-old Leon, who has been battling acute leukaemia for 1.5 years, dreamt of a smartwatch
  • 2-year-old Patrick, who has undergone treatment for acute immune thrombocytopenia, dreamt of a Read with Albik “Mój pierwszy elementarz”” set with a talking pen
  • 2-year old Franiciszek, who suffers from neuroblastoma, dreamt of the “Mój pierwszy elementarz” Read with Albik set with a talking pen and a book “Henio Koparka”.

The remaining amount, i.e. £85 91gr, supported the collection: Parcel for Christmas.

Participation in these two charity actions reinforced our conviction that as an IB school we are actively changing the world for the better and that we are developing a trait from the Learner Profile: ‘Caring’.
