On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, we celebrated International Earth Day. On this occasion, the second grade PYP students prepared a performance to encourage the whole school community to care for the environment and to launch a “World Cleanup Day” initiative.
The children approached this task with great enthusiasm and commitment. They worked together in groups so that, through their actions, they could help take care of the area around our school and raise awareness in the local community about how important it is to care for our environment.
While cleaning the area around the school, the students noticed that cigarette butts made up the largest amount of litter. This observation inspired them to take their own initiative, students’ action – they prepared posters encouraging people to throw cigarette butts into bins instead of on the ground. Then, class representatives put them up around the school.
We are very proud of the students’ attitude, their sensitivity to their surroundings, and their willingness to make a real difference in improving our shared environment and community.
