“To be like Kazimierz Górski”
On March 2, 2021, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kazimierz Górski. Because of that, on March 18, 2021, we took part in a lesson organized by the Museum of Sports about him.
This lesson was related to our lines of inquiry: What makes a successful player and How football has changed over time.
The educator told us about: Kazimierz Górski – a footballer and a very famous coach, the history of Polish football and about the team: Orły Górskiego or Golden Eleven.
Below is what we remember from the meeting:
- Kazimierz Górski’s hometown was Lviv.
- At the World Cup, we won bronze by defeating Brazil 1-0 in 1974.
- The nickname of Kazimierz Górski was “Roe-deer” because of his physique.
- Kazimierz Górski was the coach and selector of the Polish National Team since 1953.
- Poland won gold and silver medals at the Olympics.
- Kazimierz Górski joined Legia Warszawa in 1945.
- He played once for the Polish National Team.
- His famous quote is: “The point here is to score one more goal than your opponent”.
We loved this lesson and look forward to the next one!
