“The languages of Art” – wednesday
The third day of the festival „The languages of Art” will be devoted to the 11th and 12th century’s Chinese poetry, 19th century Chopin’s song inspired by folk music, a lyrical poem of an American poet and one of the masterpieces of 20th century’s Polish poetry.
Sara Siniecka, who is a student of the 2nd grade of the secondary school, writes about her painting: “ It is estimated that the poem written by Li Zhiyi dates back to 1035-1117 AD. I came across the poem one evening when out of curiosity I wanted to find some information about traditional Chinese poetry. This poem caught my attention due to the image of the river Yangtze which it describes. I decided to illustrate the poem in the form of the post stamp. You can see on it in the background a river sewn in fog. The persona of the poem tells us about the difficulties he experiences while being in love with someone who lives far away. I decided that the painting in the form of the post stamp would be a good idea because it can be associated with sending love letters.”
Kacper Szymczak from the 7th grade will present the poem “Mr. Cogito Reads a Newspaper” by Zbigniew Herbert. The poem comes from the 5th poetry book “ Mr. Cogito” written by the poet in 1974. We also invite you to listen to the recording of Frédéric Chopin’s “The Lithuanian Song”. The song is performed by our music teacher Magdalena Skawińska. The lyrics, based on the folk song, were written by Ludwik Osiński.
