From May 5th to 9th, students from the MYP program (grades 5-8) had a unique opportunity to spend time in Lower Silesia, exploring the rich cultural heritage of both Poland and the Czech Republic amidst stunning nature and fascinating architecture. This was the first trip where our students could cross the border as part of a green school initiative.
The trip began with two days in Wrocław, where students participated in exciting chemistry lessons, discovering the secrets of science under the guidance of a mad scientist. During visits to Hydropolis and walks around Wrocław, they had the chance to see the Penance Bridge, ride the cable car over the Oder River, and take part in a city game searching for Wrocław’s gnomes. After a busy day, there was also time for sports activities and evening integration games by the campfire.
The third day featured a visit to Kudowa-Zdrój, where students explored the Toy Museum and participated in workshops to create their own toys. In the afternoon, we headed to the Czech Republic to Adršpach, marveling at the rock formations and the beauty of nature.
The fourth day was an unforgettable adventure in Prague, where we visited Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town. The highlight of the day was a visit to the unique Vytopna restaurant, where food is served by trains, creating great excitement among the students.
On the final day, we returned to Kudowa-Zdrój for an engaging biology lesson in the Spa Park and an interactive exhibition at the Sudety Ecocenter. Our green school trip proved that learning does not have to take place solely in classrooms. Discovering the world through action, adventure, and direct experience brings many benefits. Students not only expanded their knowledge but also formed new friendships and created unforgettable memories.
