The first-grade classes have just begun a new unit of inquiry called “How We Express Ourselves.” During our lessons, we talked about works by famous painters. The children looked at reproductions of selected paintings, described what they saw, and shared the emotions the artworks evoked in them. Once they had become familiar with the paintings, their titles, and their creators, we organized a scavenger hunt. The students ran around the entire school searching for hidden reproductions, which they later matched with the correct titles and artists. We had a fantastic time!
