Mr. Bekker’s Invention
On May 29, 2025, second-grade PYP students went on a field trip to the National Museum of Technology as part of a recent unit of inquiry, which central idea is: “Curiosity and inquisitiveness lead to discoveries and broaden our knowledge about the world.” With great interest, the students listened to the story of the creation of Mr. Bekker’s lunar vehicle and learned intriguing facts about its design. The workshop segment also sparked considerable enthusiasm, as the children had the opportunity to construct their own space vehicles and test them on challenging terrain. Finally, guided by a museum educator, the students explored the museum’s exhibition area, where they discovered many fascinating facts about space exploration and related inventions. It was truly a captivating journey!
