IB spirit found… in Giżycko!
This year, grade 1-4 PYP students spent their Green School in the Mazury region, more specifically at the Central Sports Centre in Giżycko. Grades 3-4 embarked on a five-day trip on Monday 13 May, while grades 1-2 joined them on Wednesday 15 May for a three-day trip. Regardless of the length of their stay, they were all united by one common goal – the mission to find the IB spirit in Giżycko!
At the start of their journey, they received a symbolic ticket to the Green School and during their journey they listened to a letter encouraging them to develop the IB Learner Profile outside of school and meticulously document evidence of its development in a commemorative booklet.
Giżycko greeted us with beautiful weather, which added to the beauty of the surrounding area. We felt that the spring sunshine and the greenery surrounding us improved our mood and gave us energy.
During the Green School, Monnet students took part in many different activities that engaged their minds and hearts. They got to know each other better, were active, faced new challenges and discovered the beauty of nature. Every day they had project activities with their homeroom teachers and sports activities with sports instructors. There were field games, art activities and a bonfire. On Tuesday and Friday they went on a boat trip on Lake Niegocin. On Wednesday, Monnet’s older students went to the Wolf’s Lair, and on Thursday the younger ones went to the Mazury Zoo Safari. All this was the result of the collaboration between Monnet teaching team and the instructors of REAL Sport, which organised our trip. The number of experiences meant that our commemorative Green School Booklet came back with us to Warsaw filled with photos and evidence of developing the 10 qualities from the IB Learner Profile.
