How does the post office work?
Last week, our PYP second-graders learned about the profession of a mail carrier and discovered how the post office works. The children wrote letters and addressed the envelopes themselves. Then, they went to a nearby post office to buy stamps and send their letters. It was a very authentic experience – the students took a queue number and waited a long time in line at the counter. In the end, their patience paid off – all the letters were placed in the mailbox and set off on their journey! This task was one of many planned as part of a Unit of Inquiry about workplaces.
