FRANCE – language trip to Annecy 2024
This year, for the first time, our Primary School went on a language and culture trip to France. A group of students went with Mrs. Ania and Mrs. Emilia to Annecy, located on the second largest lake in France, Lac d’Annecy, in the Alpine valley.
The students stayed with French families and from Monday to Friday, before noon, attended a French language course at the Alliance Française d’Annecy school. There, under the supervision of teachers – native speakers, they developed their language so that during breakfast and dinner they could have lovely conversations with families on everyday, cultural, and even socio-political topics due to the elections to the European Parliament taking place on the day of their arrival.
Afternoons and weekends were spent sightseeing and enjoying the charms and opportunities of this beautiful town. On the first day, the students went to the city beach for lunch and played frisbee together. On the second day, the participants toured the historic part of the city with a guide, and on the third day, everyone took part in a boat trip on the lake. There were also trips to mountain trails, where you could admire the beauty of the Alpine nature and the Mont Blanc massif. In addition, during our stay, the International Animated Film Festival [French: Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy] was held, a very well-known and appreciated in the film industry. The students took part in a pre-premiere screening of the film Flow directed by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis, which touched on important ecological issues. We also managed to see an exhibition at the Film Animation Museum [French: Musée du film d’animation]. During the trip, there was also no shortage of joint picnics and physical activity by the lake. The students had the opportunity to play pétanque (boules, balls), a social game with elements of skill, extremely popular, especially in the south of France. Another great attraction was the opportunity to paddle and kayak on the lake. Unfortunately, the latter was prevented by capricious weather, but the time spent on the pedalos will remain in our memories for a long time. The students spent the last day with their host families. Part of the group visited Geneva, the rest spent a successful day by the lake.
We would like to thank the Alliance Française d’Annecy school for the great organization and cooperation. It was a successful trip!We also invite you to watch a short video from the event on our social media. Instagram and Facebook.
