On the fifth day of the finals of the project “Around the World in 6 Days”, students from grade 6A took us to the magical land of a thousand lakes – Finland. On the occasion of Vappu, the Finnish spring festival, we lit a bonfire, where we immersed ourselves in fascinating presentations. We learned about the history, flora and fauna of this extraordinary country, and also learned the secrets of Finnish architecture. Did you know that there are more saunas in Finland than cars? We did not know about it either! 😄
The students shared with us wonderful elements of Finnish culture: folk costumes, artistic creations and the everyday lifestyle of the Finns. An incomparable guest, Joulupukki, came to visit us all the way from Lapland! The students had the opportunity to learn the history of this iconic hero and write letters to him. After the educational part, it was time for culinary delights – we tried traditional Finnish delicacies such as blueberry tart, pannukakku, korvapuusti, fermented lemonade and Karelian dumplings. At the end, we had interactive games: fishing in our own lake, a photo with Santa, a game of Angry Birds and exciting tasks against the clock. What a day it was – full of impressions and unforgettable experiences!
