This year’s project “Around the World in 6 Days” was started with a bang by grade 8, which on April 1st presented the school community with a solid portion of knowledge about Romania and a number of attractions related to cultivating important customs and traditions for this country. An important aspect of the presentation was the impressive decoration maintained in a terrifying atmosphere referring to the widely known story of Count Dracula. Bram Stoker, in his famous novel, based the title character on a real character from the history of Romania – Vlad the Impaler, a cruel Wallachian lord. The atmosphere of dark Transylvania has forever been remembered as an icon of pop culture and this inspiration became the main theme of Tuesday’s edition of the festival. Our guests could learn something about the fauna and flora of Romania, the history and culture of this country, and learn some interesting facts from the world of sports. To get a better feel for the atmosphere, the students tried the delicacies of Romanian cuisine: doughnuts called “papanași”, cakes, chocolate pancakes. Full of delicious food, we took on intellectual and sporting challenges: quizzes, crosswords, puzzles, walking on a balance beam. We are waiting for the next stages of the festival journey!
