Primary Years Programme

The kindergarten implements one of the best educational and pedagogical programme – Primary Years Programme of the IB. The programme pays attention to developing attitudes such as: curiosity of an inquirer, independent thinking and being independent in general, self-confidence, courage, independence of opinions, artistic sensitiveness, feeling responsible for themselves and others, empathy, capability to play various roles.

We strive to provide our graduates with features which allow them to be inquirers, confident of their value, knowledgeable about how to communicate, caring, independent thinkers, open towards other cultures, respectful for their health, able to maintain balance between work and rest, honest and fair, embracing challenges, could gain knowledge and understand connections between various disciplines.

In line with the standards of the IB basic tasks of kindergarten are:

  • social development of the ward realized through these activities in mixed age groups,
  • to support the child in learning world and finding his place in the kindergarten through openness on the environment (participation in theatrical performances, trips to museums, trips to parks, sports tournaments and children’s art festivals),
  • enabling daily contact with the English language.

IB programmes put an emphasis on personal development of students and teachers. They confirm that knowledge and skills are important, however, they are insufficient to raise a citizen of XXI century. Therefore, they suggest forming certain attitudes toward people, environment and education which enable development of a person equipped with attributes of the Learner Profile.

We state that assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning process. Students, teachers, parents and administrators have to come to clear understanding in terms of reasons for assessing, what is assessed as well as the criteria for success and methods by which the assessment is made. Students and teachers are actively engaged in the assessment of the students’ progress.

  • Promoting student learning,
  • Promoting information about student learning,
  • Contributing to the evaluation of the programme,
  • Contributing to the planning process and design of learning experiences,
  • Providing teachers, students and parents with feedback.

Need for communication is instinctive, and language development is fundamental to satisfy it. The Kindergarten beliefs that learning language is a key issue in terms of the whole learning process. Moreover, language study, including mother tongues and foreign languages, develops international mindedness, reinforces cultural identity, enhances personal growth and promotes effective communication.

The Kindergarten views all teachers as teachers of language, and all parents as essential contributors to the languages learning process. We are convinced that one of the most effective way of teaching languages is involving students in various everyday situations. Our Kindergarten values differentiated and varied instruction, which integrates the skill areas of listening, speaking, presenting, viewing, reading and writing. Students multiple learning styles and individual development are always taken into account while gaining such skills.

Special educational needspolicy

We state that every student is in the centre of the teaching and learning process. It is believed that all students participating in the IB programmes ought to have equal access to the learning content.

The goal of implementing Special Educational Needs Policy is to organize and give psychological and pedagogical support in such a way that it is the closest of a student as well as their educational and family background. It enables to have an individual inside into each student, their talents, interests as well as difficulties they struggle with, and first and all, providing them with support adequate for their needs and capabilities.
