During this week’s classes, the Dragonflies learned a fairy tale about the Garden of a Thousand Peonies. They watched shadow theatre and co-created it; they participated in a workshop on creating decorations and staging. They learned how shadow theatre works and what is necessary to create it. They did artistic works, checked what calligraphy is, wrote Chinese phrases and learned about the symbolism of colour, flowers, and architectural elements during a trip to the Chinese House in the Royal Łazienki. During the lessons, the Dragonflies also wrote and decorated cards (postcards) from their summer vacation in English and learned about elements of decorating homes in traditional Chinese style. We also talked about the structure of a typical pagoda and the geometric figures found in Chinese architecture. We listened to the fairy tale The Emperor’s New Clothes and started a conversation about the morals derived from this tale.
