Matura międzynarodowa Kindergarten Candidate Assessment policy

Assessment policy

In our school we assess children aged 3-7 who later continue their education in Polish state schools. Considering Polish ductional law (Rozporządzenie MEN Z 23 grudnia 2008 roku Dz. U. Nr 4, poz. 17 z 15 stycznia 2009 roku) and IBO standards and practices standard C4, teachers’ board agreed on the following:

The assessment system is for teachers, students and parents. The pre-assessment helps the teachers to modify the educational process. The summative assessment gives an opportunity to reflect on their work as well as on students’ work. It also can help to describe students’ individual results.

The assessment is essential for the students because they can make self assessment and know about their progress.
It is important for parents because they know about their child’s weak and strong points and can decide about the future education.
Assessment is also important for the school’s administration because we can learn about teachers’ success at work.

The assessment is effective when it is systematic, adequate for each project and goes along with Polish educational law.
The assessment considers all the students. Theachers use suitable strategies, methods and tools to assess.

Taking all this into consideration our school agrees on the followoing:
We assess according to MEN an IB standards (pre assesment, formative, summative, self and peer-assessment)
Students are assessed at the beginning, in the middle and of the project and at the end.
We assess:
Knowledge and skills
Progress in IB learner profile
Readiness for school
All the teachers are responsible for the assessment. Each student has a portfolio where all his works are kept. In January and June all the date are analized by the homeroom teachers who make a written report and give it to the parents and school’s administration.

Once in two years the teachers can revise and change the practice of assessment.
